Chapter 1
Principles of Biblical Interpretation
Copyright 2010 by Raul E. Lopez, MD, MDiv
The reader may wonder why there is disagreement about Bible doctrine. Different churches separate from other churches and form denominations (groupings of churches) based on particular distinctive beliefs. Some people come to the Bible and arrive at conclusions which differ from those arrived at by other people. Perhaps the reader may ask himself why not simply accept the most ancient doctrinal point of view, or the point of view held by the majority of Christians. Since there are several points of view on this matter of the timing of the rapture, it is important to understand why the Bible lends itself to varying interpretations, and what approach we should take to arrive at the correct interpretation.
